#54 HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY, DAD
CAROL HOMUTH
My Dad was born, grew up, worked, and died in Harriston. He was an only child. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout, speed-skated, was a talented violinist. He graduated as an optometrist in 1946and joined his father (later Mom) in the Harriston practice. He also ran the store (Grandpa was the pharamacist) and a photo-finishing business. He was a life-time congregant of Knox-Presbyterian Church. Dad served on the town Hydro Commission, was chair of the School Board. He was one of the co-founders of the Harriston Historical Society (always got annoyed when someone did not know where Harriston was.) He was Scout and Rover Leader. He and Mom squared-danced for many years, travelled, and in later years were dedicated cruisers. His hobby was model railroading and model-building and he was an obsessive collector. Dad had to be busy and he maximized the twenty-four hours of every day. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday this March and I know it would have been a great party.,
There are many photos of Carol as a young boy...such cute outfits
